'SoCalOps 2014, Saturday May 31st Op-Session'

Al Daumann was kind enough to put together the first inaugural SoCalOps 2014 "Op-till-you-drop" week which began Wednesday May 28th and lasted until June 1st. We had about 50+ attendees with the usual Clinics, Dinner and lots of layouts participating in a regional operations week similar to RockyOps or BayRails. The Cascade Subdivision was invited to host and I was only able to open the layout to one day due to work restrictions. I had 6 guests: Seth Neumann, Jim Providenza, Tony Thompson, Brian Dobbin, Mark Schutzer and Ray DeBlieck. Helping me run the railroad for the guests was a few of my usual crew members: Joel Morse (Advisor), Ray Eiser (Signal Maintainer) and Mike Phillips (Chief Dispatcher). We ran a full 5 hour schedule from 9:00AM till about 3:30PM with a lunch break in between. The layout ran well with only a few cranky signals which Ray promptly fixed. No train crashes or derailments that I heard of. All in all a great day I think was had by all. It was nice to give back to these guys who hosted Bay Rails in years past. Enjoy the photos....
